“We came for the first time on Sunday for the NHS event. The Staff were so lovely and friendly. And the interaction with the animals was amazing. My boys absolutely loved it (as did I).
The hot drinks and cakes were great too, I highly recommend (and have been raving about it to all my NHS friends)
Thank you “

We are a small family business and we pride ourselves on not only giving you a first class experience but also offering you a real inside look as to what life is really like on an alpaca farm in rural England. Our guests often leave as friends and as such we find our customers come back time and time again for a wonderful alpaca experience in Oxfordshire. We believe we offer a totally unique experience as our surrounding countryside is so beautiful, our animals so amiable, our walk so picturesque and our inside knowledge is second to none. When you visit us you are visiting a family home, with real farmers who are happy to share our farm with you.
Please fill out the form to request a gift voucher for an experience.
The walk is suitable for all able-bodied people over the age of five. (We find younger children cannot manage the walk and the ground is unsuitable for pushchairs. We advise parents of very young children to look at the Alpaca Encounter instead.) Everyone else taking part should be capable of walking a fair distance over bumpy and often muddy ground without the use of walking aids. Dogs cannot attend or be left behind in cars.
We welcome large groups. Please email us if you would like to make a large booking.
We are inundated with requests for private experiences due to the pandemic. If you need a private experience due to health conditions please email us and we will try and accommodate you. Our private experiences take place on a week day.
Alpacas are herd animals and won’t walk alone, so experiences can only be booked for two or more people. There are various tickets you can select and you'll see all of the options on the booking page.
Suitable clothing and footwear (sun cream and hats for sunny days, waterproofs and wellies for wetter days).
All children under 16 must be accompanied and supervised by a full paying adult at all times. Children aged 10-16 can walk their own alpaca but must be accompanied by a full paying adult walking their own alpaca.
If you’re pregnant please be aware that we are a working farm with live animals. We therefore have natural bacteria and parasites which in some circumstances may be harmful to a pregnancy. If you choose to come to our farm or participate in an experience we recommend you do not touch pregnant sheep or lambs and thoroughly wash your hands after being around any of our other animals, especially before consuming food.
Please book using the form at the moment - Upon booking, your confirmation will be sent to you immediately. Look out for an email from enquiries@downsidefarm.co.uk. If you don't receive it instantly, please check your junk folder.

Absolutely brilliant time.
Shona’s hosting was fantastic nothing was too much trouble.
Plenty of food was given to feed the animals and if you run out Shona was on hand to provide more.
Food was fantastic, really would recommend
We had the most amazing experience this afternoon. We were very privileged to spend time with Boris and friends.
Kim and Craig were fantastic hosts and we most definitely had an up close and personal experience, that we all thoroughly enjoyed.
We would most definitely recommend.
Thank you so much for having us.
The standout part of this experience is the service. You just don’t get service like this anymore! Staff are just fantastic and deserve all the credit for our experience.
Really fast responses before I arrived (even in the evening)! which was greatly appreciated. On arrival and throughout the staff were so lovely, welcoming and attentive. The food was delicious, the experience lasted the perfect amount of time and of course the animals were just amazing. We can’t wait to return again! Thank you so much for making it a memorable and different afternoon out.
Me and my son had the best day! From start to finish we were given a warm welcome, the food was delicious and the seating area was set up beautifully. Most importantly though the interaction with the animals was very special and lots of fun. Everyone was smiley and welcoming. You are all wonderful. The passion for the animals and knowing their characters really came through.
Thank you for sharing your special farm.
Absolutely 5* from start to finish!
From organising the booking to being welcomed on the day was fantastic! I couldn’t ask for a better experience.
The customer service was exceptional, we were well looked after! Seeing the animals was so exciting!
Loved my experience feeding the alpacas and other farm animals! There was a safety briefing before the interaction, which I think was helpful in making sure that we will have a pleasant experience – both for the animals and visitors.
The table setting was also beautiful and I enjoyed the afternoon tea with yummy treats. All these as we were looking at the field with the animals walking around. I like how there’s designated hand washing area nearby. And the staff made sure we had everything we needed. Definitely an enjoyable activity for families, friends and couples.
Spent an hour in the company of “Boris” and co and loved every second.
Kim, our host, was very welcoming and was happy to answer any questions.
The cream tea and cakes was delicious and a glass of Prosecco most welcome.
A lovely way to spend an hour or so in the fresh air and countryside.
I thoroughly recommend a visit here, especially if you have young children, or even if you don’t.
“Boris” is going to become a bit of a celebrity in no time at all.
Thank you for a lovely time and making us feel welcome.
